What is the Product Catalog and its purpose?
The Product Catalog is part of the Federal Revenue's improvement plan for Brazilian Foreign Trade. It aims to simplify import processes and at the same time bring more security to information.
The Catalog will function as a database of both products and foreign operators present in the importer's operations and it is your responsibility to complete and manage the information. Everything completed will be recorded for all the importer's operations, being used to fill out the DUIMP and possible licenses required from consenting bodies (LPCO). If necessary, complements can be included for each process, depending on the characteristics of each product. In this way, the preparation of the DUIMP will be optimized and the process will gain agility.
The point of attention for importers is that with the records in the Catalog, regulatory bodies will cross-check the information and it will be easier to detect non-conformities. While the Catalog provides practicality, it also requires detail, clarity and consistency in the information filled out.
In addition to the practicality already mentioned above, the purpose of the Catalog is to standardize product information for all import operations and thereby increase the quality of information provided for inspection and risk analysis.
